Overview

The Workspace is where you explore the contextual graph, run Reflect queries against a Hindsight memory bank, and assemble your findings into curated pages. It is designed as a persistent, multi-pane research surface: you select a server and bank, choose or create a session, and then move between querying, inspecting graph items, and composing pages.

Primary UI areas

The Workspace page is divided into a top control bar, a left-hand work panel, a middle result/preview panel, and an optional right-hand Chat panel. Each area can be resized by dragging the handles between panes; double-click a handle to reset it. Use the Data and Chat toggles in the top bar to show or hide the left and right columns.

Top bar

The top bar ties the Workspace to a specific Hindsight server and memory bank, and controls the active research session.

ControlPurpose
Server / Bank selectorsChoose the Hindsight server and memory bank that feed the contextual graph and Reflect queries.
Session selectorPick an existing research session or start a new one. Sessions are scoped to the selected server and bank.
New / Edit / Delete sessionCreate a new session, rename the active one, or delete it. Deleted sessions cannot be recovered.
Data toggleShow or hide the left-hand data/query column.
Chat toggleShow or hide the right-hand Chat panel.

Sessions are the unit of persistence in the Workspace. A session remembers your Reflect history, curated pages, and the state of your tabbed views. The last active session for a given server/bank pair is restored automatically when you return.

Left panel: scope, spine, and contextual data

The left column is split vertically into a scope/query area on top and a bottom split containing the Entity spine and Contextual data panes. You can hide the entire column with the Data toggle in the top bar.

PanePurpose
Scope / Reflect queryWrite and submit AQL-based Reflect queries. Toggle query options to adjust context and directives.
Entity spineA filterable list of all grounded entities in the selected bank. It gives you a quick overview of what is in the graph, but is read-only here.
Contextual dataShows entities that have attached mental models grouped under each entity. See Contextual data for details.

Right panel: preview, curated pages, and chat

The right side is now split into a middle result/preview area and a dedicated Chat column. The result area shows either a read-only preview or an editable curated page, depending on the active tab. The Chat column is described in detail on the Chat page.

Tab typePurpose
PreviewThe default anchor tab. Displays the result of a Reflect query, a selected step from the session history, or a mental-model content preview.
View tabsRead-only tabs opened from the Contextual data panel, the Reflect history, or other preview actions. Each view tab isolates one result. See Preview and curated pages for details.
Curated page tabsEditable pages where you compose narratives, tables, diagrams, and graphs from the session. Curated pages are saved inside the session. See Preview and curated pages for details.
Chat threadsThreaded agent conversations tied to the session. See Chat for details.

Curated-page tabs show a dirty indicator when they have unsaved edits. You can save, rename, or delete the active curated page from the tab bar.

Session management

A session is a container for a single research thread. When you create a session, it is empty: no queries, no pages, no view tabs, no chat threads. As you work, the session accumulates:

  • Reflect query submissions and their results.
  • Curated pages you create.
  • View tabs you open from Contextual data or Reflect history.
  • Chat threads and their message history.

Sessions are identified by an ID and a title. The title is optional; the UI falls back to the session ID and creation date. You can rename a session at any time.

One session per server/bank pair

Sessions are tied to a specific server and bank. Switching banks changes which sessions are available, but your open tabs and queries adapt to the new selection through the underlying research session hook.

Reflect workflow

  1. Choose a server and bank.
  2. Create or select a session.
  3. Type an AQL query in the Scope / Reflect query pane and submit it, or type a question in the Chat panel.
  4. The Reflect result appears in the Preview tab as an envelope (narrative, graph, tables, diagrams). The Chat result appears in the Chat column as a synthesized response with an envelope.
  5. From either result, you can copy content into a curated page.
  6. Curated pages are edited, saved, and managed as tabs in the middle panel.

  • Context Patches builds and maintains the graph and mental models that appear in the Workspace.
  • Reflect provides the query engine and result envelopes.
  • Chat adds a conversational layer with recall, synthesis, and merged edge-context graphs.
  • Workspace gives you a persistent place to run queries, inspect model output, chat with the agent, and write pages.

Summary

The Workspace is the user-facing research surface of architxt. Its top bar selects the data source and session and toggles the left data and right chat columns; its left panel provides querying and graph browsing; its middle panel previews results and hosts editable curated pages; and its right Chat panel lets you ask the agent about the bank.
