Bank Settings

The Bank Settings sync type reconciles architxt's single master bank configuration with a selected Hindsight memory bank. Unlike the other sync types, there is exactly one object: the bank settings themselves. There is no "Only in architxt" or "Only in Hindsight" column — only Same or Different.

What is compared

When you run Diff with the Bank Settings object type, architxt reads the selected Hindsight bank's config and compares it against architxt's master bank_settings row. The diff checks these fields:

FieldDivergent if...
Retain MissionThe mission text used during retention differs.
Observations MissionThe mission text used when consolidating observations differs.
Reflect MissionThe mission text used by Reflect differs.
Retain Extraction ModeThe extraction mode strings differ. Allowed values are concise, verbose, custom, verbatim, and chunks.
Retain Chunk SizeThe chunk sizes, in tokens, are not equal.
Entities Allow Free FormOne side allows free-form entity labels and the other does not.
DispositionAny of the three disposition traits (empathy, literalism, skepticism) differ.

The diff result contains a single row with ext_id: 'bank-settings':

  • Same — all fields match.
  • Different — at least one field diverged. The row shows a divergence badge for every field that differs, and the compare modal shows the architxt and Hindsight values side by side.

Push bank settings

Pushing overwrites the selected Hindsight bank's configuration with architxt's master settings.

In the UI:

  1. Select the Bank Settings row.
  2. Click Push.
  3. architxt sends the master settings to Hindsight as a bank-config update, including retain mission, observations mission, reflect mission, extraction mode, chunk size, free-form entities flag, and the three disposition values.
Push affects the whole bank

Bank settings are global. Pushing them changes how the bank retains, observes, and reflects for every subsequent operation.

Pull bank settings

Pulling overwrites architxt's master settings with the selected Hindsight bank's configuration.

In the UI:

  1. Select the Bank Settings row.
  2. Click Pull.
  3. architxt reads the bank's current config and updates the local bank_settings row.
  4. If a field is missing or invalid on the Hindsight side, architxt falls back to its own defaults for that field.
Pull replaces the local master

Pulling bank settings updates the single architxt master configuration. Any other banks you later push to will receive these newly pulled values, so make sure you want the selected bank to become the template.

Field mapping

Bank settings map to the Hindsight bank config fields described in the memory bank retain configuration reference. See the Bank Settings core-concept page for details on each setting.

Typical workflows

SituationAction
You tuned the master settings in architxt and want a bank to use them.Push from Different or Same.
A bank was configured directly in Hindsight and you want to copy its behavior.Pull from Different or Same.
You want to reset architxt's master to the built-in defaults.Use Reset to defaults on the Bank Settings page, then push to any banks that should use the defaults.
You want every bank to behave identically.Pull from the reference bank, then push to the other banks.

Summary

Bank Settings sync is a single-object comparison between architxt's master configuration and a Hindsight bank's config. It checks missions, extraction mode, chunk size, free-form entities, and disposition. Push sends the master settings to the bank; pull copies the bank's settings back into the architxt master.
